Jon Stevens Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Affinity photo is unusable for me at the moment, it crashes everytime i try to anything in HDR, I need it for work - how do i go back to the previous version which i had no problems with please? (i have already tried reinstalling the latest release , and my windows version is up to date, plenty of memory on my system etc) Quote
Alfred Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Jon. If you’re using the latest Microsoft Store version there’s no way to revert to the previous one unless you have a system backup. If you’re using the latest Affinity Store version you can simply uninstall it and replace it with an earlier version from here: https://store.serif.com/update/windows/photo/1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Jon Stevens Posted February 24, 2021 Author Posted February 24, 2021 HI Alfred That's great thankyou! I'm on the affinity store version, so have replaced with the last version that didn't cause me problems. It's very stressful when I promise a next day service to clients and then the software is playing up! Thankyou Jon Quote
Xzenor Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Before you roll-back. try disabling hardware acceleration. It's known to cause some odd issues and patches are being worked on. If it doesn't help you can always roll back to an earlier version. Quote Windows Desktop user
walt.farrell Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Or try the 1.9.1 beta and see if that resolves the problems. If so, the 1.9.1 retail version should be along soon, or you could work in the beta for now. Note, by the way, that reverting to the earlier release is not guaranteed to be free from a different kind of problem. When you ran 1.9 you also updated all the internal data files that hold your preferences, tool settings, brushes, assets, styles, etc. And those updates are not guaranteed to be backward compatible. So if you revert without resetting 1.8.5 to factory default settings, you may find odd things that don't work right. And if you reset to factory default settings you will, of course, lose any brushes, assets, etc. that you've installed, unless you can reinstall them from backups.
