Designer for iPad - 1.9.0 or 1.9.3? (split)

Recommended Posts

As a very recent purchaser of an iPad and the Affinity iPad apps, reading this thread has left me a little confused!

I have installed the latest version of Designer from the App Store; the splash screen shows it as being version 1.9.0, but the "Preferences/Settings" screen shows it to be 1.9.3.  Which is "correct"?  (Screenshot below).

TIA.

Jeff

Long-time user of Serif products, chiefly PagePlus and PhotoPlus, but also WebPlus, CraftArtistProfessional and DrawPlus.  Delighted to be using Affinity Designer, Photo, and now Publisher, version 1 and now version 2.

iPad Pro (12.9") (iOS 17.4) running Affinity Photo and Designer version 1 and all three version 2 apps.

Well spotted, Jeff! It seems that someone has dropped a digit or two: the current beta version of APh on iPad is 1.9.1 (build 1.9.1.223) but TestFlight reports the current beta version of AD as “Version 1.9.1 (1.9.22)”. All retail versions of the Affinity apps are currently at 1.9.0, but I understand that 1.9.1 is due to be released to retail very soon.

the correct number is the iPad Store version number 1.9.0, but yes it confusingly declares itself to be 1.9.3 in the about dialog. I have tweaked the opening line of the post.

(Note: 1.9.1 will have 1.9.7 in the about dialog)

Why are the numbers different? :/

the iPad store insist you increment the build number each time you submit. Photo has the best approach and has incremented a 4th number, but Designer has always incremented the 3rd. The Mac App Store is the same, but the about box shows the "common" name we refer to (1.9.0, 1.9.1). its not really a problem, just a bit confusing
