Mabel Lucy
I just started the Affinity Publisher trial. I have used Microsoft Publisher for 20+ years on a PC and was hoping to replace it with Affinity Publisher on my iMac. I want to do a top fold 5.5 x 8.5 note card as I am able to do with MP. I cannot find a size for this standard note card in Affinity Publisher. Is this feature lacking in Affinity Publisher? I also form text around the shape of an image. Will this feature be available? Thank you.
h_d
Hi @Mabel Lucy and welcome! The default print presets in Affinity Publisher are geared towards multi-page publications with a vertical fold/binding edge, but there's no reason why you can't create your own custom presets and templates. In the New Document dialog you could set the the height to twice the depth of the card and the width to the full width, in the units you want. (Presumably inches?). You'd also need to set margins, bleed, colour format etc as required : This gives me a document like this, into which I've drawn a horizontal guide for the fold line: I'm not familiar with Microsoft Publisher but I suspect that Affinity Publisher doesn't 'hold you hand' quite as much, so you may need to do some experimentation. For "forming text round an image", have a look in the Help for "Text on a Path", if this very rough example is the sort of thing you're after: Hope this helps, H Quote Affinity Photo 2.0.3, Affinity Designer 2.0.3, Affinity Publisher 2.0.3, Mac OSX 13, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel. walt.farrell
Or, rather than doing it completely manually, as @h_d, you could do something similar but using more of the Publisher functions: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.
