owensk
I am extremely new to editing photos etc and have made this heart shape on wordily for a friend. Can you alter the words and change colour of each word through this program? If so where do I start ? Thanks so much for any assistance. My friend will just love it :)
Staff Callum Posted October 3, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 3, 2015 Hi Owensk, Welcome to the Forums :) Unfortunately once a project has been exported to a format such as PNG or JPEG it no longer contains the information for programs or apps to pick up the individual words as editable text. It will just see the entire thing as one picture. Although you aren't able to edit the text from your original picture you would be able to change the colour of it. To do this you need to import the picture into the program by going to File > Open. Then once the picture is open within the app right click it in the Layers tab and choose Rasterise. Once your picture is Rasterised you will be able to select individual letters with the Magic Wand tool and change the colour of them with the Fill tool. I have made a short video demonstrating this to make things bit easier for you, you should be able to view it here. I hope this helps :) C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

Staff MEB Posted October 3, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 3, 2015 Hello owensk, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Wordify for Mac is able to export vector PDF files. I advise you to export your work in this format since you can then select all elements/words individually as objects and apply whatever colours/effects you want to each one of them. Vector data also has the advantage of being independent from resolution giving you freedom to scale all the elements without losing any quality. anon1 and A_B_C 2 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference | Call for Camera Images
owensk
Thanks everyone for your responses. I am a little upset that I can't alter the words. I may need to look for other programs to do this. I currently export the wordily as a PDF but took a screen shot to attach it to this forum as that is the only way I know how. MEB I am confused by what you mean by effects. You are talking language I don't understand, I have just found out what a PDF is :)
Staff MEB Posted October 4, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 4, 2015 Hi owensk, By effects i was referring to the FX panel next to the Layers panel on the right of the interface. Check the screenshot below: You can select objects and apply one or more layer effects ticking the corresponding boxes and playing with the different settings. The cog icon on the right of the effect name (when it's expanded) opens the Layer Effects dialog which offer you some more options/settings. You can also access it clicking on the FX icon on the bottom of the Layers panel.
