Affinity crashes when importing an image

lorenzo p

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm working on a project (50MB afpub, 500MB in pictures, around 350 pages) on a MacBook Air M1.

The file seems to have reached a point where I can no longer import an image in it.
9 out of 10 times, when I try and drag an image in the file, Publsher immediately crashes.

I'm attaching the log to this post.
Can someone help me find out what's the problem and how can I keep on working on this file?

Thanks!

Hi lorenzo p,
Welcome to the Affinity forums!

Sorry if I guess only: According to the report there seems to be a macOS internal issue in "Thread 3" with OpenGL/Metal rendering the object.

So may be this helps to detect the detailed culprit or as temporary workaround:
• In case you drag the image into a Picture Frame: does it help to drag it on empty layout area, with no object selected?
• Does it also happen if you don't drag the image but use the Place Tool instead?
• Does it still happen if you try different than your current Metal / OpenGL settings in Preferences > Performance?
