Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.9.1.3 - RC1)

Recommended Posts

  • Staff

Status: Release Candidate

Purpose: Features, Improvements, Fixes

Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer

Mac App Store: Submitted

Download: Download

Auto-update: Not available

Hello,

If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.

This beta is an incremental update to the 1.9.0 version recently released to all customers (although it still installs parallel to the released version, as described above). We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the store version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.

Thanks again for your continued support!

Many thanks!

Matt

Changes this time

- Fix for bug in the Brushes list that prevented editing the correct brush! (ahem...)
- Fix for occasional crash creating Text Styles.

- Fix for small layer icons! (ahem, again...)
- Fix for dragging assets into the document if they contain large images.
- Hopefully we'll now create smaller Assets when exporting them...

Changes Since 1.9.0

- Fixed New Document dialog on older macOS versions.
- Fix for some old documents with Constraints failing to load properly if they contain
ed Compound objects.
- Fix for Compound node operation mode chooser not being available in the Layers studio.
- Fixed Resource Manager on OS X 10.9.
- Fix for updating images via Resource Manager causing image scale to be reset.
- Improvements to user experience and downloading in My Account.
- Fixed printing crash when the document has multiple artboards.
- Fixed some icons being very small.

- Fixed incorrect cursor issues.
- Fixed mirroring objects to transform individually based on tool settings.
Fixed scaled text frame increasing text size when grouped.
Fixed PDF passthrough failing to work on multi-page documents.
- Improved performance of snapping by restricting inner bound snapping to objects with no more than two curves (ie, single holes).
- Fixed crash loading large TGA files.
- Fixed monochromatic iconography option not working.
- Fixed alignment issues with pixel tool.
- Fixed marquee selection issues on Apple Silicon devices.
- Fixed loading of 16bit LAB TIFF.
- Assorted other small fixes.

The Welcome/About window for this beta just installed on my iMac says it is version 1.9.1.3, not 1.9.1.2 - RC1. Should I be concerned about that?

I noticed that the new Publisher beta has a fix for updating links via the resource manager changing the scale. I have noticed the same thing happening in Designer (a source document was renamed, and after relinking it, the scale of the elements was changed). Will there be a fix for this in Designer too?

It is in this build, just not in the change-notes

@lenogre and anyone else tempted to do this

Please please please do not list bugs (that have already been reported) that are not fixed in beta announcement fix list. It achieves nothing except making those following the thread spend time reading it. We are not claiming all reported bugs are fixed, so it's only worth mentioning when you find a new bug or when something we claim is fixed turns out not to be

when will u release update ?

When it’s ready! (Probably quite soon, since the ‘RC’ in ‘RC1’ means ‘Release Candidate’, indicating that it should become the release version if no major regressions are found.)
