iconoclast
Hi everyone! According to a question for support, I made in this forum some days ago (without any reply), I have a suggestion for future versions of Publisher. Because I'am german, I set the standard quotation marks to be replaced by the german ones. But it seems that the optical alignment is only preset to the english quotation marks and will not effect on the german ones. This only can be solved indiviually for each new document, as far as I can see. It is not possible to add the german quotation marks and other signs to the optical alignment list permanently. I think, that opportunity should be implemented for the future, because it always causes some work to do this settings for every project you work on again. walt.farrell
The Optical Alignment list should be saved with your document, so it is "permanent" for that document. For new documents, create a Template file, with your Optical Alignment additions, and Export as Template. Then just start your new documents using that Template. iconoclast
Hi Walt! Yes, that could be a good workaround to handle that problem. But not the best. I think publisher should have such a feature. I don't understand why it should only offer alignment for english quotation marks. In fact there are several signs and letters one may want to align in a more ästhetic or individual way, everytime he needs it. And it would not be verry convenient to create templates for each case. alexanderklar
Yes, I think so, too. Publisher should include all types of quotation marks for optical alignment by default. But it's great that you can customize the alignment for each character. For example using DIN with it's straight "Aufstrich" in C and G for example I de-activated the alignment. Very nice we can do it this way. 🙏

And I think that it's obvious, that even germans and french would want to align their quotation marks by default. But I think it should also be possible to do your own general adjustments, not only for one document, but even for all documents, if you want. And you should be able to choose then which way you would like for your actual document. That would be extremely cool. alexanderklar
