Pen on touchscreen goes crazy

Recommended Posts

Using 1.9 on a Lenovo Yoga C940. Running  Windows 10 Home

Tested with built in pen and separate older lenovo pen

Tested in paint to verify this is an Affinity specific issue and not a Windows or laptop issue

Tested on existing and new documents

Testing by drawing with mouse instead of pen and that works fine, even on documents where the issue was seen

Steps

- Create document, create pixel layer, switch to pixel mode, choose brush

- Start drawing. Works for a few seconds and then starts drawing zigzag lines with  starting point in the upper left off document.

- Seems to get stuck, draws for a few seconds even after I pull the pen away from the screen.

Hi,

I believe I am having a similar, if not the same issue. If I try to draw quick circles, I get a jagged start, as if Designer recognized the pen input at first touch but then did not track it until half a second later, causing a jump from where drawing begun to a later point along the drawn curve.

Does this happen to you for every brush style? It happens to me for a few "Ink" style brush strokes (Default 36 is what I was trying to use). I ask because maybe we're having the same issue and it's related to the style of brush we are using. Multiple users with the same issue might also help this get a higher priority.

Hi RichMcGillicuddy2,

Sorry for the delay in responding, unfortunately some devices/drivers don't always present themselves nicely when using WinTab (High/Low Precision options) and can cause the odd behaviour you're getting. It is for this reason that we've included the ability to use Windows Ink. :)
