Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, Tony.

Sounds like you're probably on Windows, but what versiion?

Can you give us some details on your PC specifications (kind of CPU, amount of memory, etc.)?

If you've updated to 1.9, do you have hardware acceleration enabled in Preferences, Performance? Does it get better if you disable that option?

If you're a long-term user of Designer, and you've updated to 1.9, was it better on 1.8, or is this a long-term problem for you?

How big is your document (pixel dimensions, dpi). How many layers, and what kind of layers?

Screenshots?

Hi Walt Thanks for getting back to so quick I appreciate it.

I have a Lenova Laptop T490s (3months old) Think Pad

Windows 10

The Lag-time occurs on most of my docs (example displayed) approx. 25 layers

I unchecked the “hardware acceleration” and it seems to help some, but after doing a few clicks I got the “not responding” message

I’m not certain of the pixel size, but I added a box that shows pixels when I export to jpeg.

Let me know if you need any other info…and thank you for taking the time with me

Walt-

Good News I just did a lot of design steps to my document and the system only lapsed one time! Big improvement! ...thanks for your assistance.

I think this made the change..."I unchecked the “hardware acceleration” .

If you have any more insight on my system let me know.

Thanks

You're welcome. And thanks for the info.

I have no more ideas right now, but perhaps someone else will comment.

I find Affinity's lag time quite bad as well with current version, it hangs a lot even when other programmes are closed

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz   1.80 GHz
Installed RAM    8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable)
