Transparency Gradients Producing Unexpected Results

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'm having an issue with exporting images with a transparency gradient, as you can see in the first attached image the bubbles I've drawn look as they should, and as they did when I exported in 1.8.5.

However when I export the same image in 1.9.0 it looks like this:

There's a few other places I've used this technique in the project with similar results, but  this is the simplest example. In case it's helpful here is the settings that I have used for the gradient, the ellipses have a grey fill with 20% transparency as well, with the highlights being separate shapes inside them.

Here's a version without the gradient overlay:

Thanks in advance

Smells like a regression in 1.9. Serif will probably ask if you can share an example file for investigating the problem - if the problem is not already known to them. Please have one ready - it will speed up the proces if it is indeed a bug (and it looks like it is).

Hi there,

Thank you Jowday for your reply! I've made a copy of the document and stripped everything else out, checked it's still exporting wrong, and it is, so this should do the trick hopefully.

I also spent a little while yesterday double checking it's not something to do with the blend mode or the export presets to no success, but did find a potential work around (adding the gradient overlay as a separate shape over the top of each), it's just going to be significantly more annoying to do in more complex parts of the project.

Thanks

Maybe it will help you in a hurry. Export the file to svg format, load the svg file and export it to the format of your choice.

Not the prettiest solution, but a solution for now! I've exported the svg to jpg.
