Charles Katjivirue
How to remove multiple carriage return in an affinity publisher document. The writer used the return key to insert paragraph in the document and I want to format so that there is only one carriage return. How do I do that without tediously doing it manually in a 200 page document?
Old Bruce
Use find and replace For the find use two carriage returns and the replace have one carriage return. Fixx
I usually search/replace for double ¶ to something like ø then search/replace single ¶ to space then search/replace ø to ¶ then search/replace double space to single space (just in case) Also app like TextSoap can help if this feels too tedious. (Can Publisher save searches, or use a macro for this?)
Charles Katjivirue
Thanks, the thread from Old Bruce worked, but I just notice one thing, inserting paragraph simple ¶ (with (option 7) does not have the same effect as 'paragraph break'. I initially search for ¶¶ but that did not work.
Old Bruce
That option + 7 ¶ is a pilcrow symbol, and that is used by convention to show the end of a paragraph when we have 'invisible/nonprinting' characters showing. Go to Text > Show Special Characters. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. Charles Katjivirue
Understood. Is there a shortcut for 'Show Special Characters'?

By default, no, but you can assign one via Preferences, Keyboard Shortcuts. Publisher Persona, Text, and scroll down.
