skmwrp
AD 1.9.0. I have my panels set up to my workflow, but when I go to separated mode to work using sidecar, the panels get changed all around to a different layout, meaning I have to physically move them all around again. 1.9 gave us the ability to save the layout as a preset, so I thought, "Great! I'll just save the preset and apply it when in separated mode." But when I change to separated, the preset is not available, as if it has it's own set of presets, which means I now have four sets of presets to manage — The Way I Like Them - Vector, The Way I Like Them - Vector Separated, The Way I Like Them - Pixel, and The Way I Like Them - Pixel Separated — all of which can't see one another. What a freakin' pain!

AFAIK, this is by design, because many users (myself included) would want different layout presets for separated & non-separated modes, as well as in the different personas. Besides, since the Studios & the tools panel must float in separated mode but do not have to in non-separated mode, it is not possible that every preset that works in one mode will work in the other. skmwrp
Yes, but they also could've made the preset available so you can use it if you choose. I see your second point, but I'm thinking more of grouping.
R C-R
Just now, skmwrp said: Yes, but they also could've made the preset available so you can use it if you choose. Because of the second point, & of course because each of the the personas do not share the same set of available studios, many if not most of the presets would not be usable in both window modes or in more than one persona. I am not sure what you mean about grouping or how that would make any of the presets easier to create than what we must do now. Can you explain a little more about that? skmwrp
By grouping, I mean I have things like Brushes, Stroke, Character, Paragraph, Appearance, Effects tabbed together; then below that Layers, Styles, Stock, Text Styles; then below that are Swatches, Transform, & History. That's the part that can get a pain to manage because if I change it in one persona and a particular windowing, I have to then go to the other personas and their windowing (separated/merged) and change each and every one of them to keep it consistent. Because (as I mentioned) not all the personas have all of the same studio panels available (for example, no Stock panel in the Designer persona), I still do not see how you could avoid having to set up each preset individually or make all of them 100% consistent. Besides, for each preset the main toolbar can be configured differently, so it is not only the studio panels that are involved -- it is also the configuration(s) of the tools panel, the toolbar, what floats & what doesn't, etc. that is. I get that it takes some time to set up one's preferred set of preset layouts, & that there can be dozens of them, but I think that is unavoidable if this new feature is to be as useful as many of us want.
