Affinity Designer Windows Customer Beta - 1.9.1.944

Recommended Posts

Click here to download the latest beta

Status: Customer Beta
Purpose: Fixes
Requirements: A valid product key (for Affinity Store purchases), or an installation of the full retail version from the Microsoft Store

As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. We hope you enjoy the latest build, and as always, if you've got any problems, please don't hesitate to post a new thread in this forum and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks once again for your continued feedback.

If you have a general question about the software, please head over to the Questions Forum, or if you have any suggestions, please head over to the Feature Requests forum.

Changes

  • Fixed Studio Preset shortcuts not being restored after a subsequent launch
  • Fixed potential crash when a updating the layer editability
  • Fixed potential crash showing Product Key dialog
  • Fixed New from Clipboard of raster data from external applications, as it was always prefering EMF/WPF over raster data (ignoring the 'Prefer metafile over raster ...' general setting
  • Prevent multiple crashes at startup due to what I assume is a bad OpenCL driver. Previous startup crashes are detected, and hardware acceleration is prevented.
  • Fixed crashes when attempting to register the product

Unticking that setting does make it work now, that's great, thanks.

  • Not an Affinity user og forum user anymore. The software continued to disappoint and not deliver.

To bad but this version only gives a splashscreen and quits.

Where the release build 1.9.0 works for you? Have you tried a second run of the beta?

Did a ctrl+runup after installation and rebooted, still no go.
The release version works, the beta 1.9.1.943 works, all with HA on nvidia gtx1050ti with not latest driver
Latest betas for designer and photo does not work.
Have currently a win update with .net version in the background
Also I'll update nvidia drivers to latest
This gave me a suggested new physx version which I'll also update

Will update in this thread

Hi haakoo and OctaTracker,

We've identified what is causing the crash on run up. Please see Mark's comment here for how to work around the crash. Note you will need to change the folder from 'Photo' to 'Designer' in the AppData path. If you don't have the XML file listed you should be able to copy it from same location as the non Beta AppData folder.

Note if you do a Ctrl-run up it will clear this setting again and cause this crash to re-appear.

Hi Serif,

I too have same problem of Designer Beta 1.9.1.944 not loading (though full Designer 1.9 ok.  I was going to report it but found that it has been reported, problem identified and solution being worked on already. What a great response in these difficult times - it is an example that other major firms should try to emulate!!

Thank you
