Many issues in version 1.9

Recommended Posts

- Slow Pixel selection
- Grouping objects breaks text size
-  Marque Tool place was wrong, then I noticed the "From Center" check box was checked by default (I never used that parameter).
- Pressing  CTRL to select multiple layers, just creates a Pixel selection on one of the layers.

I'm getting back to version 1.8.* because there's probably more and more issues in 1.9.

Edit: Uninstalled 1.9, installed 1.8.5 back and all issues are gone.

Tip: Never install a new version as soon as it releases. They always come with bugs.

Hi @angelhdz12,

My apologies for the delayed response here, we are extremely busy following our 1.9 update and working from home is unfortunately extending our response window to be longer than normal, many thanks for your continued patience and understanding here.

I can confirm the following are bugs which have since been addressed in the version 1.9.1 update:

- Grouping objects breaks text size

The following are not bugs and instead are 'by design':

-  Marque Tool place was wrong, then I noticed the "From Center" check box was checked by default (I never used that parameter).

This was a new feature added to version 1.9.0 and was set as default to be On for this tool for all users.

- Pressing  CTRL to select multiple layers, just creates a Pixel selection on one of the layers.

This happens when clicking on the Thumbnail of a layer with the CTRL key held and this is expected behaviour. Please be sure to select the layer itself and not the thumbnail if you don't wish to create selections.

The following however requires more information:

- Slow Pixel selection

This may be due to OpenCL Hardware Acceleration on your computer - are you using Windows or Mac please? Does this affect any pixel selection, using any tool?

Thanks in advance :)

Thank you very much for your time and for addressing all of my points. Appreciate it a lot.

The OpenCL Hardware Acceleration is unchecked.
But I now tried version 1.9.1 and the issue is gone.

Silly me! That was it, I was selecting the layers by clicking on the thumbnail and not the layer itself. Thank you!

Who knew I needed this checked by default!? Ha ha ha! But please confirm this, in previous versions this was unchecked by default, right? Or is my fuzzy mind playing me games?image.png.fd59019e4b98fed764bd2e3939c845bf.png

Stay safe!

Thanks for letting me know, as far as I'm aware we did implement a few rendering based fixes into 1.9.1 - so it's likely this issue was inadvertently resolved through one of these.

In version 1.8.5 (the version previous to 1.9.0), this tool did not have a 'From Centre' checkbox available, which is why you likely don't recall seeing the option. This option was added during the 1.9 beta and when it was added, it was also set to be ON by default. AFAIK since it has been added to the application, it has always been defaulted to ON :)
