nullpointer
Okay this technique has me scratching my head wondering how this could be done in AFD. It is text with a small transparent outline (so any background color shows through) and then another larger outline that has a bit of opacity so once again the background color shows through. Can someone point me towards a solution? Thanks in advance!!!!

One way would be to use the Appearance panel to create a second stroke larger than the first. Then make the smaller stroke have an Erase blend mode so the background color shows through. Then adjust the opacity of the larger stroke to whatever shows the background as much as you want. My letter was created from a font and then converted to a curve so that the Appearance panel could add a second stroke. If you need to leave it as editable text then this method won't work. I've attached my designer file. T.afdesign Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra
firstdefence
Create or download a texture that has transparency like the texture file attached, place it as a nested layer in the T curve and change it's layer blend mode to Erase. You can do this with text not just curves. Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... G13RL
In the "Appearance" panel, click "Normal" to the right of the stroke that should be transparent and choose "Erase" at the very bottom of the drop-down list. Alfred
