Hello StoneMonkeyMark, welcome to the Affinity Forums.

I'm having no issues opening multiple PNG's. Are you doing them all at once or one at a time? Are you going to File > Open or File > Paste?

All older builds can be found here - https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/windows/photo/1/ As long as you purchased from the Affinity Store and not the Microsoft Store. Did you have the 1.8 version and updating to 1.9 has broken this or are you new to Affinity and 1.9?

Ah, we are looking into this. OpenCL should really be performing well with your RX 5700 but we have had lots of customers complain about performance issues. We were just talking about it with the developers. I'll pass your thread over to them.

What CPU do you have?

I tried HW acceleratiopn and found that renderer is OK to leave on but OCL needs to be turned off.

It is now much faster too.

GPU AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 20.9.1

After you've tried to open a PNG, can you close the application, and then upload your log file please:

%APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0\Log.txt

Chris,

It was open one file at a time from File Open.

i updated to GPU drivers to 20.11.2 and it now works. There is still a 3 sec delay on the first png, but then others load quickly. But perhaps not a quick as CPU loading?

I think for my use, I should leave OCL off.

Thanks Mark

The initial delay on the first load is to be expected, as we need to initialise the hardware, but following loads in the same application session should be quicker.

MarkI,

Sorry , the logs have been over written. But this is a the report for the newer/working OCL drivers.

Thanks MarkI,

I also expect OCL init and kernel compile to take time (grin).

I think we can close this one. I will raise another one for PNG ICC Profiles...

I was wondering if I can open this thread up again.

I am now using AP more and find that some processing is slow.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor

GPU AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Driver version 21.10.2

As above I turned off OCL to allow AP to open my PNGs.

I need to try OCL again for ARW/JPG files, but now when I go into the menu to turn it back on it says I can not.

Any suggestions?

Many Thanks.
