jboissy
Greetings all! I wanted to show off my artistic endeavors with Affinity Designer. A lil' backstory, I used to do the small-press comic scene 10+ years ago and used a program called Creature House's Expression 3. In 2003, Microsoft bought Expression and continued the program... haphazardly... but only for Windows. As a Mac user, I lost my favorite digital inking program as OS updates rendered the old version of Expression useless. Flash forward to 2015, Affinity Designer appears and gives me another chance at creating natural looking, vector-based art. Check out my weekly comic strip, Wee Freekz... www.facebook.com/weefreekz Cheers! jB avo, Mr. Doodlezz, paolo.limoncelli and 6 others
Staff MattP Posted September 23, 2015 Staff Share Posted September 23, 2015 Really great style - looks awesome! :) I used to like Creature House Expression 3 too... but it seemed to meet an unfortunate demise :( jboissy
retrograde
I agree, nice style and sense of humour! I remember tinkering with Expression as well... glad you found Affinity, these are great. jboissy 1 Quote http://www.kevincreative.com https://www.behance.net/kevincreative https://dribbble.com/kevincreative https://www.instagram.com/kevincreative/
jboissy
Thanx MattP! :-) Expression and I go waaaay back. I was part of the Beta test team for Exp2 when it was under Fractal Design's umbrella. At the time, Exp1 couldn't support raster data, so you couldn't use the program to "ink" overtop scanned pencil art. When I brought this up to the program manager, he told me they were working on version 2 which would support raster data import and invited me to join the Beta program. The rest, as they say, is history. Serif made me a lifelong supporter with Affinity Designer... it's put me back in the comic business. :-) Cheers! jB MattP, paolo.limoncelli and jboissy
eejits
Haha! These are awesome! Love the sketchy style you've achieved with AD. It's amazing what different styles can be achieved with this program. George jboissy 1 Quote eejits: curious creatures with curious ideas - www.eejits-online.co.uk SUPPORT eejits on PATREON. retrograde
I agree eejits. The crossover potential of various styles with this suite is just getting started. The combinations and possibilities are literally endless. It's very exciting. jboissy 1 Quote http://www.kevincreative.com https://www.behance.net/kevincreative https://dribbble.com/kevincreative https://www.instagram.com/kevincreative/

It is interesting to notice that the only way to have an opacity variance by pressure even in Painter 2016 is still using the old mapped stuff... ;) Expression, Xara, Matisse, Painter and now Affinity. The disruptive way to think always pays back! ;) jboissy 1 Quote DAUB® Brushes making tools for artists, illustrators and doodlers
