How to solve disconnected couves after use contour tool - Affinity Designer 1.9

Recommended Posts

Instead of adding or merging them, create a compound., the contour will now work as expected. You can create a compound by holding alt down when you click on the Geometry Add Icon or from the Layers dropdown menu.

Looks like it was a fluke, I did exactly the same thing and now I'm getting artefacts. Stroke width doesn't make a difference, Tried with different shapes and get the same issue, so this is definitely a glitch.

Made a post here to report this issue.

Curious as to why you fellows are converting to curves and adding instead of just selecting all and working with the Contour Tool. Is there some compelling reason for doing so. Or is it just a quick way of demonstrating a problem with curves.

I also think the title is misleading in that the messed up curves are not caused by the Contour tool but the boolean add/compound function being a bit of a mess.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Because selecting all the ellipses with strokes does not behave the same as expanding strokes. I originally considered creating a compound to resolve the issue and on first try it appeared to work, but after a few attempts it became apparent compounds showed the same issue and my first attempt was just a fluke. after trying several times afterwards it displayed this issue consistently.

Example.

The Boolean operations are very often problematic, but not in this particular case. The problem here is that Expand Stroke applied to a rotated ellipse will sometimes produce a pair of almost coincident cusp nodes where there should be one smooth node, and then the Contour Tool handles that situation poorly.
