trevorc
I've just successfully loaded 1.9 but I'm doing an edit and when I export to jpg, I only have the option of Affinity Files, ie the same as I get in the Save option. It will work if I use any format other than jpg. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?
GarryP
How are you exporting to JPG? Are you using the Export function from the File menu, or the Export Persona, or something else? Also, which Affinity application are you using and on which OS?
markw
I’m not seeing this behaviour in 1.9 for macOS here. Can you list your exact steps? Joachim_L
? You probably mean this marked on image? You export there as JPG or JPEG. Calling it Affinity Files is ... nonsense here. trevorc
No not seeing that, here's my screen. The drop down box contains only Affinity files although the jpeg tab was selected on the previous screen
GarryP
Sorry, got the wrong end of the stick there. You are trying to save an affinity document with a different suffix; that is not how you export a document. Go to the File menu and choose Export; Select the type of file you want to export to by choosing from the icons at the top of the dialog; Choose your export settings; Press the Export button. See attached image which shows what you should be seeing.
SteveKen
Having the same issue - just updated to 1.9 and cannot save as jpg - only Affinity is an option (Windows) - exactly as mentioned on previous poster.

Joachim_L
You turned off to show file extensions for known filetypes. Or better to say: You checked the option to hide file extensions of known filetypes. GarryP
@trevorc Sorry about the stupid reply earlier; I got myself mixed up and didn’t read it all properly. Anyway, I would like to know where that option is too.

Squonk
Even though the Windows version is only giving an Affinity file type, it does actually save it as a jpeg on export as jpeg. And saves export as tiff as a tiff as well. Just tested both. Edited February 4, 2021 by Squonk
trevorc
so if it doesn't work, can we revert to the previous version

If you type in the filename plus extension the file is correctly exported OR just show the file name extensions in file explorer as already explained to you. Staff Leigh Posted February 4, 2021 Staff Share Posted February 4, 2021 Even though it shows 'Affinity Files' it will still save the file as a .jpg after clicking Save. If you turn on File Name Extensions in Explorer you will see that it nows shows the correct extension: However, it shouldn't say Affinity Files for .jpg or .tiff so will pass this to our developers to look at. Since this is an "Export", this description of the items in the dialog box is unnecessarily confusing. Please correct it according to the action actually performed, thank you.
