Potential expansion into CAD?

Recommended Posts

Since Designer is a vector based software, and since it has layers, would it be out of line to ask if anyone has considered taking the next logical step by making it (or making a standalone package) into a CAD package?

The people at Affinity seem to be able to make very good software for all three major platforms. I use a Mac.

Any chance of talking you into such a venture? Please.

Thanks for what you already make. I am very pleased with it.

Hello @wnlewis and welcome to the forum.

I do not think this will happen any time soon if ever. Serious CAD software is something different and there are quite some other packages fully developed already. I doubt that Serif is going to head into that direction.

It could be possible that some 'CAD inspired' features will show up over time.
You might also look into 'contruction snapping' with the Pen tool. It already offers some aides when drawing lines.

Cheers,
d.
