Constant crashing in Designer

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

First off this is my first post here, I haven't had any issues with affinity products thus far. Right now I am having a continuous issue of Designer crashing while I am using the vector brush tool. I typically use it with stabilization turned on. Any line that is even mildly complex or lengthy causes the whole program to crash. I have to save after each successful line drawn. It's to the point where Designer is essentially unusable and it's incredibly frustrating as I can't get anything done.

I have updated to 1.8.6 and the crashing only got worse. I also updated my Mac to OS Big Sur 11.8 to no avail. Switching to a new file helps briefly but it quickly starts crashing as well.

I'm working on a Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2014

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi travisthejellyfish,

We're aware of a crash that can occur when using the Vector Brush Tool. It has been fixed by development in the 1.9 beta if you wish to try it. See the links below, but please be aware that any document saved in 1.9 cannot be re-opened in 1.8.
