How can I create a coin like outline of an image

Recommended Posts

  1. Open the seal image
  2. Create a circle using the ellipse tool
  3. Reduce the circles layer opacity (Tip: Pressing a number will reduce a layers opacity by that number x 10, so pressing 5 will reduce to 50% pressing 0 will bring it back to 100%) so you can see where to place it and place that circle over the seals face and adjust the size so it covers the seals face

  4. Set the circles layer opacity back to 100% (Press 0 with the layer selected)
  5. Now drag the seal image onto the circle shape see image below for where to place the cursor, you should see a translucent bar like the one below.

  6. That's pretty much it
  7. If using Affinity Photo use Document > Clip Canvas to trim the transparent pixels

That's about as good as I can get it, without needing another coffee.

A Loon is the North American name for the birds that us brits call a Diver. The loonie is the vernacular name for the Canadian dollar depicting a common loon on the reverse.
