Welcome to the Affinity forums @Belhouse!

There is no word count feature yet in APublisher. There are already some feature requests about this function.

Since I don't use APub, I don't know if the APub regular expression search function does show up the amount of matches as number too? - Otherwise one could try out to misuse a reg expression for word counts over text areas then.

☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

Not sure I understand exactly but no, there is no number of found instances in find and replace. Good work around if it did do that though.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I meant to try to misuse reg expressions then as a workaround, so something like this here ...

I tested in Publisher and there is no number of found instances. I have to say that that omission bothers me far more than the missing word count function.

Pity, it would have been useful.

Well there are possible workarounds, but most of them aren't very elegant in contrast to by an app own offered and build-in wc functions.

  1. > pdftotext myfile.pdf - | wc -w
  2. Online PDF word counter here and here etc.
  3. Export files and open them in an office suite
  4. ...

Also those are somehow counterproductive and silly if a document is possibly very huge, meaning here to export as a PDF or other none plain text format in order to determine with other tools then how much words the whole doc might contain. - All in all APub isn't very useful for these things, since it can't tell how many words, or how often a specific word occurs inside longer docs!
