Hello,  I have been working in Affinity Design and created a few files pdf as well as saving af design layer. When i go back to re-open the design an error message pops up saying that the file is not supported. This hasn't happened to my other designs so not sure what has happened. I have the latest version of the Affinity Designer.

I have the same problem.  I modified a pattern with layers - spent an hour doing it and went to save it - and it saved it with all the layers still there.  I know it is an operator error - but would appreciate a way to do this.  Also tried to save it to my One Drive and it is not supported when I tried to open it.  Either way - it is not working.

Thank you

I'm having the same issue...I can get a PDF parts manual to open in Designer....says its not supported.

How can I fix this issue?

Your file is broken in some way, as even Acrobat Reader DC can't open it:

However, PDF-XChange Editor can open it. And if I then resave it, Designer can open the resaved version:

FYI: the version of the PDF you sent doesn't open for me in designer

Interesting. I was probably trying with the 1.9.4 beta, but I'm not sure whether that would matter.

Note that there is a free version, which is what I use.

is the xchanger the best option to all me to read in designer? cause I'm not clear on using the 1.9.9.4 beta option?

I've no idea if it's the best way. Probably better would be to get the creator to fix the PDF files they're generating. If you contacted them and pointed out that Adobe Acrobat Reader can't process them maybe they'll fix it for you.

For what it is worth I checked with Preview (Apple's default free PDF viewer) and that opened the file fine, Designer didn't. I exported the file as a PDF from Preview and that version opened fine in designer.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Same for me. I tried both AD 1.9.3 for Mac & the 1.9.4 beta & both said the file type was not supported. Opening with Preview & reexporting from that app as PDF then worked fine in AD.

I really doubt that Apple has a Windows version of Preview. Try using what ever web browser you have, they can open PDFs  they may be able to save as or export as PDF too.

apparently I only have the "Adobe reader" in chrome, which doesn't allow me to export as another PDF and open in AD

So why not install the free PDF-XChange Editor that I pointed you to earlier?
