Why is exporting to eps in Designer placing a white background?

Recommended Posts

Ok, my go with the leaves

Use Threshold layer at 100% to turn everything black
Copy Flattened

Open Inkscape
Paste
Trace bitmap
Copy path

Back to Photo
Delete Threshold layer
Paste path as Curves layer
Move Curves layer to clip image
Export

Leaves_Only_NoBG.eps

Anyway, the bottom line is, that unless one actually does a Vector drawing from scratch, or imports a vectorized image in the first place, then what ever one saves an image as it won’t be a vector image unless it starts out that way. A Vector image with anything else in it, will behave like a Pixel image.

and that’s ok. I can live with that. Now I know exactly how Designer behaves I can get some clarity with my design flows.

thanks for the insights folks.

Thanks,

This was really helpful. SuperVectorizer 2 looks very useful. I've just purchased a copy.

SV2 is a very good and fast one for Macs, I've once reviewed and compared a bunch of those tracing tools. SV2 offers more and better color quantization than previous older SV versions, it also offers outline and center line tracing, which can be useful to have at times.
