How to Edit crushed colours?

I know how to handle blown highlights and crushed blacks, but how should I handle crushed colours i.e. where the peak on the histogram goes outside the frame.

Suggestions welcomed.

If by peak you mean the height of the histogram, I just ignore it, all that means is there are a lot of pixels with that level of 'colour'

That's exactly what I mean Bruce. Like you, I have ignored these peaks in the past. Are you sure that the peak refers just to the number of pixels and  not crushed colours?

The relative number of pixels.

Do a test with some mid range colours to see for yourself. Make some documents (small size, say 100 pixels square) and fill different portions with different colours, the more area you fill with a mid range colour the higher that will be. Move your cursor over the histogram and watch the readout change as to the number of pixels.

You are right, the peak refers to pixels and not crushed colours. I believe that managing the histogram in Raw will solve so-called crushed colours.
