Rob Charlton
I’m fairly new to Affinity Photo, still trying to figure out some of the basics. I’ve come across an issue I haven’t been able to figure out. When I want to place a photo on a project I’m working on, sometimes I am given a choice to choose from a small number that appears to be somehow connected to the app. I’ve included a screen shot below. Or, choose from all the photos on my IPad. The shot below does not include an option that allows me to choose from my entire library of photos on my iPad. Sometimes the option shows up and other times it doesn’t. I would like to know why that option doesn’t come up every time. It’s very frustrating when I can’t get to my photo library to choose the photo I want. I am sure I’m doing the same thing every time, but too often, it just shows a handful of photos to choose from and not my complete library...with no option to go to the library. Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks, Rob
DM1
@Rob Charlton Hi Rob, it’s an iOS thing. Just tap on Recent folder. The Recent folder allows access to all your library images. It just sorts them from most recent on. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Rob Charlton
Thanks for responding DM1, I appreciate it. I’ve got a couple wrinkles in that solution. First, when I tap on Recent folder, I only get a handful of choices. I’m not sure how those got there or how they were selected. But, it’s only about a dozen photos out of many hundred in my library. The notice that I get, when it shows up, appears on the screen I originally included. I just did it again, and the notice that allows me to access my library showed up. I took a shot of it so you can see what it looks like. Same screen as before, except this time it gives me a choice to access all my photos. Sometimes I get this, and other times I don’t. I wish I could figure out how to just have access all the time. Edited January 24, 2021 by Rob Charlton

Check iOS settings and make sure Affinity Photo has read/write access to Photo Library. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). For future reference, you’ll get clearer screenshots if you use the built-in feature for this. Rob Charlton
Thanks again! I took a picture of my iPad screen with my phone. I figured there was a way to take a screen shot on the iPad, but didn’t know how to do it. As you can see, I’m not the most computer savvy person on the block. Trying hard to learn, though. StR
and what about a version of Affinity 2 that doesn’t show an option to connect within the settings!. Affinity one (that also didn’t communicate well with photo library) had an option where I could give Affinity allowance to the library and that partly worked. In Affinity iPad 2 I can only give Siri allowance ;(
