Loading Nikon Z-series NEF files appear as pure blackness with no image data

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Trying to load any of the sample Z6 RAW images here will just display pure blackness with no actual image data:

Z5 sample RAWs are similarly affected. It seems to me that this is an issue with the Serif Labs RAW Engine on both Windows and MacOS. Switching to Apple (Core Image RAW) does fix image loading.

Forgot to say that both the latest stable (1.8.6) and customer beta (RC2) version is affected.

Used mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 for testing Mac stuff and Windows 10 with latest upgrades applied.

The Mac was a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019) i9, 32GB RAM. The Windows PC is an old i7-4770 with 8 GB and nVidia GTX 760.

I downloaded the NEF RAW, and was able to replicate your issue. This is an issue with Affinity Photo, as I'm able to open it with another editor (Paintshop Pro).

Affinity Photo 2.4..; Affinity Designer 2.4..; Affinity Publisher 2.4..; Affinity2 Beta versions.
