Beta version asking for product key

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded the latest windows beta version 1.9.0.902 of Publisher from here:

installed it and tried to run it but it asks me for a product key.
As it's a beta version I don't have a product key. I've uninstalled previous beta and production versions of affinity and tried again to no avail.
Any suggestions please?

Welcome to the Affinity forums @Birdieman!

There was no need to uninstall the production version. Retail and beta can co-exist without conflicts. In the Product Key box for the beta you have to enter the Product Key of your purchased version.

For the Affinity applications you need to have the commercial release installed to use a beta version – you can only see the new stuff if you already have the old stuff.

Also, you can only install the beta version of the application you have installed – for example, if you only have the commercial release of Photo then you can’t install the beta of Publisher.

If you want to try the software you can install a trial version of the commercial release – trials are available via the Affinity website https://affinity.serif.com rather than these forums.

OK , I only ever had a free trial production version of Publisher.

Never paid for it as it didn't have the pdf pass-through which is a must for me.

I believe PDF pass-through is not in the live production version yet so guess I'll have to wait for the next release.

Once the Trial version is updated to 1.9 you'll be able to try it there. I'm not sure how quickly that will happen, though.
