Can't continue editing in other program

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

I'm not sure why that would happen. Some information that might help:

  • Did you purchase the programs from Serif (Affinity Store) or from the Microsoft Store?
  • Please use Help > About in each program and give us the release number that each displays.
  • Have you done anything such as reinstalling either program, or updating Windows since the last time it worked?
  • Have you tried restarting the programs? Restarting Windows?
  • How many user accounts do you have on that Windows machine? If more than 1, are you using the same account where it worked before?

Thanks. Sorry, I've run out of ideas for now, except for one other odd possibility:

  • Which disk/folder did you install the programs in, and have you played any tricks to move c:\ProgramData\Affinity to another drive, or your AppData folder, or any other Affinity-related folders

Other than that, possibly another user, or (I hope) someone from Serif will be able to provide additional suggestions.

Can the following entries be checked in the Windows registry.

  1. Windows key + R (Windows Run)
  2. Type regedit and press Enter
  3. Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Serif\Affinity\Designer\1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Serif\Affinity\Photo\1

Check the Install Path to make sure the location is the correct one, if not you can double click to edit and then close the Registry Editor down. Reboot Windows and test, if this fails you can always uninstall the apps reboot and install them again, adjusting the install path during the installation.

It’s been a while since I had to assign drive associations but A: and B: (as in your screen-grab) used to be the associations for floppy drives. Could this be part of the problem?
Do you have any other drives in your machine?

I have three drivers:

A : HDD

B : SSD

C SSD (Boot)

I uninstalled Affinity an installed angain an now it works fine.
