VectorVonDoodle
Hi there - is there any way to have the layers default to being created top down in Affinity Designer for iPad instead of automatically bottom up? I’ve struggled with this for a while but when I’m creating artwork I want to draw a layer and then have then next one automatically appear under it when I start the next vector shape rather than over it or at the top of the whole layer tree when I start a new layer? Insertion targets only seem to do it once and then it defaults to new layers at the top again? I seemed to get it to work last week for a moment and now it’s back to the usual again ... can anyone help? Thanks!
walt.farrell
I don't think there's any way to do that. It is acting like a sheet of real paper: Draw something. Draw something else that overlaps the first thing. What you drew in step 2 is above what you drew in step 1, and that's just what the Layers panel shows. VectorVonDoodle
Thanks Walt. Thing is it started doing it by default on the last illustration I was doing which was a breath of fresh air (ie every new layer I drew appeared under the last one I drew) so I was wondering had I toggled something or done something on the setup that would have done this? It’s back to the normal bottom up now... any ideas? There’s no preferences settings or anything is there? I work from highlights backwards so it’s something I really need... thanks, kirk
VectorVonDoodle
If it would even just put the new layer above the last one you drew it would be useful - unless that layer is specifically selected then it starts it right at the top of the layer tree, which, if you’ve hundreds of layers is really annoying... any help appreciated. thanks! Alfred
If I select a layer in the Layers Studio, the next shape I draw is always created immediately above the layer I selected. VectorVonDoodle
Yes, but it needs you to select the layer. Surely it would make more sense historically if the next layer was always drawn above the last layer you've drawn rather than put at the top of all the layers. It's problematic if you're working with a vast number of layers and don't have the previous layer selected as it draws at the top and then you have to manually re-order it to where you want it? Any way to automate this / set as a default? Thanks!
