Look at other category, for example Photo,

and back to Print category - why A4 template thumbnail isn't highligted?

I'm curious why you posted this in Feedback rather than in Bugs?

Because I don't know if it's really a "bug", where Serif presents some functionality and it's not implemented correctly, or just some shortcoming/inconsistency in the design, which can be improved by providing feedback. If Serif evaluates this feedback as an bug, it will certainly move it to the correct forum.

By the way, unlike the request option for the Affinity Suite, ie for all Affinity applications, there is no option to insert an bug that is common to all applications (which this one might be).

It is more common for bug reports to be moved to Feedback than for Feedback to be treated as a bug, in my experience.

If you think the program is working incorrectly, it's better in my opinion to report it as a bug. That ensures it's reviewed by the right team.

Serif declares that it reads all posts, so it will certainly handle this request to add/correct a function.

This is not a bug the A4 template remains selected as this is the source of your document before you apply your custom settings

Then this post in the requirements forum is quite right - thank you for considering, because the meaning of highlighting the original/source template before changing the parameters of the document is very questionable, and only confuses users, see:

Maybe if at least the color of the highlight box changed: Blue (active template - same document parameters) + Gray (source template - changed document parameters).

And the fact that the template "does not remain" selected after switching to another category (see point 2), is there a bug?

How could one use this source info – as long it doesn't also highlight what parameters  got altered in the details section?

Doesn't this info rather describe the history of the issue appearance than being its purpose or concept by design? Compare other presets in Affinity UI which don't stay highlighted once they got selected or changed, in particular the export presets, which even disappear and show a blank space only as soon the user alters any of its properties:

Several aspects in the New… dialog window still confuse me:
