Conditional Logic Merge

Recommended Posts

Hello Community,

I've been using the beta version of publisher with mail merge reasonably successfully, however I've discovered a requirement I don't believe is currently supported which is conditional logic merging.

What I want to do is merge different content based on the value of another field - which is acting like a switch.

i.e. if field value Xi = "yes" then field value Xo = Yi1 otherwise Yi2.

This could be expanded even further to allow different master pages (templates) to be applied during the merge etc.

Could this be supported ?

Thanks,

Nic

I would have thought this would be a function to do in the spreadsheet rather than publisher because it is going to get the first value from the spreadsheet or list?

Yes, that is an option and works to a point.

This requires most of the textual content to be held in excel, which isn't a good text editor (yes, you can copy and paste from word).  When changes to be merged are significant like a whole paragraph disappears leaving a large white space it does impact the design.

What I'm looking for is a way to conditionally control the design and content such as changing the master template or font size etc.

Basically this is a good and logical idea. But data merge is currently not there, yet.
