Textframe with little 'X's instead of squares each corner -?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I think this may be a rather a trivial user error than something not working, but - forgive me my stupidity - I have to ask:

In a Publisher document I want to change the size of the text frame. Yet I seem to be unable to do so, as the textframe does not present with little filled boxes at the corners and sides. Instead it presents itself with little 'x' in the same position. So however I pull or drag, the size of the textframe remains unchanged.

What am I missing/doing wrong?

Any help very much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi JanG.
Two things may be happening here: either you have you have the text frame locked in the Layers panel when working in a regular page - click the padlock icon in the corresponding layer in the Layers panel to unlock the text frame or it's also possible you are trying to enlarge a text frame created/placed in the Master pages (which is replicated) in the regular pages - in that case, with the (regular) page selected, right-click the Master layer in the Layers panel and select Edit Detached, change the text frame as you wish then click the Finish button in the orange bar on the top of the work area to change that particular instance of that text frame. Alternatively change the text frame in the Master page where it was originally created, note however the changes will be replicated to all pages that have that Master page applied.
