On my way I stumbled upon the "Name" and "Global" feature of Bullets and Numbering. Quote The Name setting lets you name your new list format and set it as a global format which can be used across the document, while the Style setting allows you to associate your list formatting with an existing text style for future use. But how can this be used? Does anyone has a sample document to look at and learn? RainerH Posted February 16, 2021 Share Posted February 16, 2021 Hello together, can anyone really explain what needs to be set in order to be able to continue numbering across several text frames? Sometimes the setting "global" helps, sometimes it doesn't. This is exactly what is not described in the video demo mentioned above. It is a basic requirement to have numbering across a complete document, e.g. for chapter headings. This fact is also not described in the help, at least not in the German. Ramses-II Posted March 10, 2021 Share Posted March 10, 2021 I need the same functionality, that is to be able to set numbered image captions across different text boxes where the numbering updates itself when new captions are inserted at different locations in the document. I can then use the table of contents feature successfully to produce a table of figures. It seems to be difficult to get a clear explanation of the 'global' feature under numbering and like RainerH said it sometimes works and other doesn't, which is bizarre. 🤔 Any help on this would be appreciated.
