multi-layer effects

Recommended Posts

Can you consider the multi-layer effects only available in Photoshop, which I need very much when making some ICONS?However, there is no such function in all kinds of vector drawing software. Even in AI, it can only add one layer of shadow to the graph, but in order to achieve realistic effect, more than two layers of shadow must be added. So I had to work back and forth exporting the graphics to PSD.It's very inconvenient.

Add a shadow to the object.
Group the object
Add a shadow to the group
Group the group
Add another shadow to the grouped group
etc
etc
etc

Is this what you want or something else?

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Welcome to the forums @Hikinb
As carl123 said above, you can apply more than one Effect to a layer by putting the layer in a Group and applying a new Effect to the Group.
However, the new Effect – the one added to the Group – will also act upon the original Effect, but that may or may not be a problem depending on what you are doing.
See my attached image where the original silhouette has a grey shadow, the group the silhouette is in has a red shadow and all that is grouped again, this time with a blue shadow applied.
If there is a way to stop this from happening then I’m sure someone will explain.
