Is there a list-function like in quarkxpress? - Yes, since 1.9 (beta)

Recommended Posts

The text styles in Affinity Publisher certainly support lists (see, for example, the Numbered 1 and Numbered 2 text styles), but I'm not not sure how that relates to navigation.

Can you give more of an example of what you want to do?

With this list with all chapters, I can jump directly to this chapter. My "books" have sometime 60+ pages. To scroll to this pages cost to much time and effort.

With this Chapter-List I can jump between page 1 -> 64 -> 3 in seconds.

Not sure, if I described it better. 😳

Yes, but this is a bit complicated.

My document have scientific headlines. Like

1. Chemical Bond
   1.1 covalent Bond

...

I made this with "text style".

Now I want to made this list automatic with this headlines/chapters which I made with text style for navigate directly to this chapter.

With Hyperlink/Anker I can make this too, but it is more work and very "manual".

Have you tried creating a Table of Contents?

Are you wanting this navigation to be in the final product the " (kind of science-books for my pupils) " or in the Publisher document while you are working on it?

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Good Questions: First, for me as Publisher during working. Creating content for school is never finished, it is always in a flow.

But if in the document later (pdf), for navigation would be good to; but this I can make with table of content, right?

I only have one eye to read/write with at the moment, so please excuse anything I have mised in the thread.

@WolframH, thie QXP list feature isn't available in APub.

The QXP list feature is akin to MS Word's Navigation panel. It can be used for both TOCs, pdf bookmarks etc., as well sa jumping to varios locations withing a document.

Yes, Word has it too.

Ok, so there is just the hyperlink-method. Thank you all, for your help. Maybe Affinity-Team can put something similar inside the publisher?

Once you have the TOC created, each entry provides an anchor, and you can navigate using the Anchors panel (View > Studio > Anchors). Just click on the anchor of interest, then click the "go to anchor" icon on the lower left of the panel.

I try to make it, how you said, but inside the ankers I just see page 1; page 2-3; page 4-5...

Sorry; it looks like this only works in the 1.9 beta, not in 1.8.
