Affinity Photo doesn't start up when my home server is shut down

Recommended Posts

HI everybody,

Like in the title described Affinity Photo will not start when my home server is shut down. I'm a Mac user and I shut down my Q NAP home server once in a while over night and sometimes over the day. I think this is a strange behaviour of Affinity Photos and shouldn't be like that. What can I do to use the program flawlessly?

THX in advance

Welcome @Tripower to the forums.

Is Affinity Photo installed locally or on the home server? Have you recently opened/loaded any files into Affinity Photo that are stored on the server, if so try the following:

Open System Preferences > General, change the Recent items to None or 0

If Affinity Photo opens, go into the apps Preferences > General and untick Reopen document(s) on startup. This will prevent trying to load any documents from the server when the app is opening.

Affinity is installed on my Mac's hard drive/Applications just like all my apps in general. I usually edit my photos on a second internal hard drive. Not on the server. However I might have done that at some time or recently. I can't remember. I took your advice and unchecked the "Reopen document(s) on startup." option. So next time I have my server down I'll be able to see if that works fine. I will report.

Thanks bunches or your advise. I much appreciated it.

T.
