AffinityType
In Photshop, when I select the on the page, I can press Ctrl-H to hide the selection so I can preview the font on the page without any other visual distractions. In Affinity, I can't find anywhere to hide the selection or the scaling controls. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

What comes closest is deselecting the text layer and turning off Candidates list in the Snapping Manager. Ahhh very cool trick! But how can I do this while text is selected without erasing the text I wonder. I need to be able to preview and cycle through different fonts without seeing all the extra lines/highlights.

MikeTO
@hm933 and @micdim, Lee provided the answer earlier in this thread in 2021. Press and hold the spacebar while a text object is selected and its selection box and size handles will disappear until you release the spacebar. if the cursor is in the text object then simply press Esc before pressing the holding the spacebar. hm933
I have to reposition text on artwork all the time. The handles are incredibly distracting when I'm trying to get just the right placement. Actually there is a workaround - awkward, but the spacebar hint helped. The arrow keys (with and without the shift key) will move the text while the spacebar is pressed. The mouse (or keypad), however, doesn't do anything to the text while the spacebar is pressed. And I just discovered that the "hide while dragging" button does work - sometimes - if you can find it. It's buggy and unreliable and it's not always in the same place. I hadn't bothered with it b/c the first time I tried it, it didn't work and it didn't help that I couldn't find it when I wanted it. walt.farrell
