Boldlinedesign
Was using the latest versions of designer beta on ipad and desktop and still getting crazy nodes and strange results when expanding, dividing and adding back together strokes to objects. This is such a crucial and universally needed set of functions. Anything I design in affinity designer, I need to copy over to illustrator to merge cleanly. Not a great long term solution. Blob tool and vector erase would also help. Another Boolean operation that acts the way Illustrator's merge tool does would be appreciated. The current "add" function in designer is more like the illustrator " unite" Boolean operation. Please serif!!!!!
postmadesign
This is the Mac Beta forum, but the screenshot is from the iOS version. Is it the same in the Mac beta?

Yes. Crap in all versions (despite 25 years of vector graphic software development by Serif). Move Along People
Boldlinedesign
@postmadesign the pic I attached was from my attempts this morning in the iPad beta, but the same issues occur in the desktop 1.8 and the 1.9 beta as well. I didn't mean to post in the wrong section, but the issue is identical on both ipad and desktop versions.
Wosven
I don't know where this is going... back to the subject. If some improvements were made to solve this problem, it seems in some situations we end up with more nodes than needed. Different possibility as "add node" (in the middle of each segments) and simplify nodes (to reduce the numbers of nodes, keeping the curves), would be nice in the apps. Wosven
Perhaps an option about the sensitivity when merging curves too, to help choose between different results.
Staff Sean P Posted January 12, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 12, 2021 Hi boldlinedesign, Would you be able to attach a copy of the document prior to performing the operation please? I can get your example added to the list and passed over to development.
