Cwaterfield Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 (edited) I’ve been using designer on my iPad Pro for about a week. For the most part 👍 it feels familiar and intuitive. You’ve got my attention. Price was a little misleading. As advertised on the website $19.99 ending up costing $27.99 through the AppStore. Anyways. As a lifer (Aldus/Adobe) dating back to Photoshop 2.0 and Illustrator 3.0 it’s an inexpensive alternative I will teach to others. That said... I’ve had a few issues with workflow, layers, groups, etc. The slightest wrong move on my iPad Pro using the iPencil creates havoc. Again, 1week learning curve. Here’s my issue... I got to text, text on a path/curve, and custom typography... It was a WTF moment. Like others here, I’ve got a background color issue which as become very un-user-friendly. I’ve been on Reddit, YouTube, and finally this forum. Can anyone help? Edited January 6, 2021 by Cwaterfield Quote

Dan C Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 Hi @Cwaterfield, Welcome to the forums The thread you have posted in is regarding the Desktop version of the Affinity apps, and therefore is not related to your post as far as I can see - for this reason I've split your post to it's own separate thread. Please note you may need to reselect 'Following' in the top right corner of the thread to make sure that you receive notifications of my replies here. In regards to the issue you're having, with your text tool selected, please open the Document menu, then select Defaults, Factory Reset. This will reset the current tool to it's default settings, so any new text you type should not have any background colour for the text itself. I hope this helps! Quote

There is a bug in the real version (fixed in current beta), where text copied and pasted from elsewhere (such as safari) would include the background colour. There is no ui option to clear this but..... if you create a new text box and with the box selected (move tool) you use document menu copy, then select the coloured background text box and use Document menu Paste Style. This replaces the coloured background with default transparent background. The good news is it’s fixed in 1.9. If new to Designer you might find the PDF version of the Help file useful. Plenty of ui space to insert a control for it too.😩 walt.farrell 1 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
