I have a PNG file with about 600+ color swatches on it. In Photo or Designer when I try to create a palette from a document it only creates about sixty colors or so. And 'Create Palette from Image' seems to have a limit of 256 colors. I've tried every way I can think of but can't get any better results. I'm guessing it's just combining similar/close colors into one color?

I use this color set literally every day in my work and it would make my life a lot easier if I had them in a palette. (And I'd really rather not have to create a palette by sampling 600+ colors one by one.) :-/

File attached.

There are 465 distinct colours, 93 colours per strip, and the only way you will get all of them is to cut the image up into sections to accommodate pretty much any colour pickers limitations.

Most colour extractors are limited to 256 colours, Corel Painters swatch creator is limited to 256 colours.

You also have to consider colour accuracy, how accurately do the colours get reproduced.

You can create a pallet from an image for up to 256 colours but you can also add another 256 colours to the same palette. (etc, etc)

Just use the option "Currently Selected Palette" in the dialog below.

So just slice your image into colours of less than 256 for each image, then add the colours from each image to the same palette

Not sure if there is a limit to how many colours you can have in a palette but I currently have one with 800 colours
