MadsRC Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 I'm not sure if this is a feature already, but I haven't been able to find it if so... Is it possible to assign colours to an object as a variable? I have a situation where I have a box with 3 sides: top, side, front with each side a different shade of grey. In this example, the colors would be named after the side they are applied to: top, side front. If I wanted to change the box to a shade of red, instead of changing the actual object, I would instead change the colour value of top, side and front. The use-case would be to change colourschemes relatively quickly for large sets of objects. Does anyone know if this is possible right now? (An alternative I've thought about it reverse engineer the file format and write some code change the colors of the objects... But that seems overkill :P) Quote
lepr Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 Welcome Have you tried using Global Colours for this? Quote
MadsRC Posted January 6, 2021 Author Posted January 6, 2021 I've dabbled in defining the colours in a palette, but that still requires me to go to every single object and configure them to use another colour from the palette. Don't know much about the Global Colours feature, but will definitely check it out! Thanks! Quote

When a Global Colour (GC) is assigned to objects, subsequent edits to the GC will change the appearance of every object to which the GC has been applied. Quote

Try looking at this coloured.afdesign I used grey for the base colours of the Top, Side and Front because then the colours will apply in a predictable manner when the blend mode is set to Colour in the layers panel. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
