Save Last Export Settings

Recommended Posts

I use Affinity Designer for a project that involves having several files open in tabs, then selecting the visible elements in each file and exporting each file an SVG with the "Export text as curves" box checked and "Area: Selection without background" chosen. I do this same exact thing every day.

I've noticed that after marking the correct export settings for the first file of the day, the others automatically default to "Export text as curves" already being checked, but the Area option doesn't similarly change - I have to manually change every export window from "Whole document" to "Selection without background."

Is there a way to tell AD that I want these same export settings for every file? If not, can this please be a feature request - that subsequent exports automatically default to the settings of the most recent export? Or perhaps there's something I could set up with macros to make this process quicker? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Without knowing more about your documents and your workflow it sounds like you probably need to use the Export Persona rather than the Export function.
In the Export Persona you can create Slices to be exported and the settings for each will be saved with the document.
You can also use the Export Persona to export multiple slices at the same time or have them automatically exported as things change.

P.S. If you have a project which is covered by multiple documents then, depending on various things, you might be better having everything in the same document but split over various Artboards.

Export Persona also doesn't save export option settings, although you can save a preset, but it will resets back to PNG after every export, so even if you have a preset, you are not one step ahead. And you have to enter export persona with every single file, no option to open directly in export persona, so it is one more step.
But if you have multiple objects to export from one file then using slices and export persona is the better way indeed.

Export Persona is set by default according to the type of format/tab that is selected in the Export dialog. If you need to export to nonPNG, select other format in the Export dialog.
