Alan Douglas
I am trying to create reduced specific content files from a large document. The single files will be used as chapters for future doucuments. Selecting pages using merge feature works fine and new document is shown with expected pages. However, after saving the new document and re-opening, the wrong pages appear. Number of pages is correct, but always beginning with 1st content page of original document, not the from-to pages selected for merge. Any ideas? It looks as though the reference to source document page numbers is reset during save function. This is a k.o. problem for advancing my project so thanks for any answers. Alan By the way... Exporting the merged file to PDF exports the correct pages. The problem is specifically in saving the newly created .afpub file Edited January 3, 2021 by Alan Douglas Additional info. walt.farrell
It almost sounds like you are using File > Place rather than Document > Add Pages from File... (which is the document merge function). Can you provide some more details of exactly what you're doing so we can better understand your workflow? Alan Douglas
Thanks for the quick reply. I am definitely using "Add Pages from File". My goal is to create "Chapters" by extracting pages from a long file (7 MB, 200+ pages). If I select any entire file to merge, the merged file is displayed correctly and saves correctly. If I select "from-to" pages only from the master file, the merged file is also displayed correctly with only the selected pages. However, when I "Save as > New File Name", close and reopen, the opened file contains the correct number of pages, but with the wrong pages. Example source file attached Workflow: Open empty file right click on Page 2 Add pages from file Select file (attached) Add from Page Numbers - 215-223 Result: see screenshot 1 Save File Open same file Content in screenshot 2 (represents page numbers 11-19 from source document) Thanks for your help, Alan 60_-_FW_Marketing_2020-08-17.afpub
