Hi everyone,

I'm not familiar with Affinity so my apologies in advanced for using wrong terminologies.

I want to design a poster to help the community. This poster will be licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 so that others can download the source file and make change it to fit their style.

I was wondering if Affinity has an option to lock certain objects (such as logo, text etc.) so that, although the source file is available, it can't be modified?

Cheers, Scrumtraveller

Hello @scrumtraveller and welcome to the forums.

You cannot lock the file in the way you describe, but you can export your design to pdf which is marginally more secure.

Thanks for the quick reply @John Rostron. I want to offer this product as a white label product. Exporting the design into PDF is indeed more secure, but it would be uneditable for others? (if I'm not mistaken)
Perhaps what I want, isn't even possible with any tool, but I just wanted to double check.

The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence allows others to “distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material”. If you could lock certain objects you would be limiting the ability to make adaptations, which sounds to me as though it goes against the terms of the licence.
