When I go to the print panel the image won't change from mm's to cm's when I request it and the image is totally the wrong colour which hides the print margins...any thoughts ?

Said it all in the title...When I go to the print panel the image won't change from mm's to cm's when I request it and the image is totally the wrong colour which hides the print margins...any thoughts ?

I'm used to Photoshop but I only started using this yesterday.

Thanks

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

When you say "totally the wrong color" what do you mean? A screenshot might be useful.

Hello Walt ;)). and thank you ;)). ....well the original is a landscape and predominantly yellow and blue...in the printer panel it is totally orange !

I tried another image which is predominantly green but that comes up totally orange in the panel too !

Just guessing ... Sounds like they are both too big (according to the printer's software) for the paper size.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I agree with Old Bruce. It sounds like the warning that Affinity provides when your image is too large for the selected paper size, and you have not specified that the images should be scaled to fit the paper.

To change the units you will need to change the units for the document. If they're showing mm then that's how you have the document configured. You can use cm measurements (or any other units you want) in the fields to express the size you want, but Affinity will convert them to the document units.

Hi again, yes that was what I tried to do but the dropdown that controls that doesn't respond...not a huge big deal

my main problem is this change of colour in the printer window. I have searched to see if there is a control for this but can't find one ;((

As @Old Bruce and @walt.farrell have indicated, the orange/red colour you’re seeing there tells you that your image is too large for the selected paper size. What are the dimensions of the document, and what paper size setting are you trying to use?

Well if it were in cm 65x40

But as it's mm 650 x 427 to allow for tge border

By that I mean the image is 65x40 but the paper size is 70cm x 42.7 cm

The printer is an Epson stylus pro 4000..I've had it from new and it still works like a new model

Hi all again. Happy New Year to you all ;))

Going back through your replies. The document/print size was set up in Photoshop CS6 in CMs and I resized the document to include a border.

But as I said it refuses to show anything except MMs.

The software for the printer is the newest version a 2020 bug fix I guess and the printer has a max width setting of 43.5 cm the length can be as a banner

if so desired ....so as long as you need it to be ...so my settings for the paper are well within the parameters for the printer and shouldn't show up as being too

big. I'm using a trial version of Affinity which , if everything works as I want, I will upgrade to a bought one ;))

Ignoring the Pring dialog for the moment, what units does Affinity Photo show in the main window when you have the rulers displayed, or when you use Document > Resize Document?

If it shows cm there, it should show cm in the Print dialog.

What Paper Size are you specifying in the Print dialog's Layout tab?

Have you clicked the Properties button in the Print dialog and verified that your printer is set to use the corresponding paper size?

What scaling option have you chosen for the Fit Type option in the Print dialog?

Some screenshots might be helpful.

Hi Walt...thank you for replying ;))

Suddenly the print dialogue shows the image as it should be...I've changed nothing !

I was just about to make a screen shot when it suddenly changed !

But is still only gives me the dimensions in MMs...which as I said before is not a problem..so for now thank you for the help...until the next time lol lol

Best Wishes

David
