Foxart Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 In the tutorials of affinity designer I see that when you open the font family box, you can choose from a whole list of fonts that spans the full height of the window. When I open my font family, I only see eleven fonts. How can I ensure that I also see a larger list please? qbenguy 1 Quote
prophet Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 I get a big list on my Mac. Is this a Windows issue? qbenguy 1 Quote
carl123 Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Yes, on windows it is restricted to 11 (bug?) qbenguy 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Foxart Posted December 31, 2020 Author Posted December 31, 2020 Thanks for the quick responses. So this is clearly a Windows problem. Maybe a tip to Affinity to fix this in a future update? qbenguy 1 Quote
Superargento Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Version 1.9.2 was released today, but the list of fonts is still short. Let's wait 🙂 Quote
qbenguy Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 I'm hoping Affinity can address this with an update. I'm still having a hard time understanding why the experience is different for Mac users. Quote
GeePeeBee Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 What has happened to my font list in Affinity Photo. I have recently updated to the latest version in August 2021 and my font list is limited to the first 11 fonts in alphabetical order. Can anyone let me know how to restore my full font list, please. qbenguy 1 Quote

It might have something to do with the time it seems to take to generate the font previews in the Windows versions: the preview text is IMO also unnecessarily big on Windows (or perhaps it can be adjusted somewhere?). They might have made the list limited to 11 families to alleviate the problem. Earlier e.g. in CS6 Adobe apps (at least on Windows) the main font lists with samples were limited to listing just families (and actual styles could be selected only from a sub list; InDesign CS6 has the full list under Type > Font but that works poorly, but not so much because of problems with the system than because of the control itself as it misses a scroll bar and only has a a kind of a "more" arrow), and certain apps like QuarkXPress (2018) really struggle in getting a full font list with all styles built and properly responding. That depends much also on number of fonts installed, and the kind of system that is used. But this has improved in the current versions of the mentioned apps, and nowadays e.g. Adobe apps have the main font lists extending from top to bottom and they contain all styles, and featurewise they are identical on both platforms. qbenguy 1 Quote
