Hello. I’m new to Affinity Publisher and haven’t yet started to use it. So, please excuse my ignorance.

I’m looking for magazine templates to import into Publisher -- for example, from Envato. When, in the specs for a template, it says, for example, “32 pages,” does that mean the template is for a maximum of a 32-page publication, or does it mean that there are 32 different page designs to pick from within that template, and that the resulting publication can have any number of pages?

Which providers do you recommend that sell magazine and/or newsletter templates for Affinity Publisher?

Hello,

hard to tell without seeing the template and it's overall created structure (...but probably initially contains 32 pages)!

You have to search over the internet for (ideally) ready made for Publisher magazine templates here and then see if some of them do fulfill your neeeds. - See for example ...

...or does it mean it's for a magazine of any length but gives 32 layouts to pick from to fill the required pages?

You always can add or remove pages as you want (it's finally just a prebuild template you can customize to your needs). This one looks to come with 32 prebuild pages of layouts you can pick from and reuse. - Note that things aren't cast in stone here, you should be able to change things as you want!

I think I've already answered your question before, not sure what you want to hear further now?

Thanks again. Please bear with me a bit longer . . . So, I could use a selection from that template set of 32 prebuilt pages of layouts to produce a magazine of 20 pages, 32, 50, 100, or whatever number I want, AND be able to customize any of those prebuilt layouts to suit my needs, yes?

Yes that's what I would expect here from a template, since you might want to change and customize certain aspects of that template to your specific needs. Aka changing colors, images, used fonts, pages, page layout styles, numberings etc. etc. - It generally wouldn't make sense to offer a template at all, where you can't change essientiell things to your needs. Further you can also setup your own individual magazine template style, there are tutorials on the net how to do that.

However, if you are unsure, ask the author of that template, send them an email or message, so you are on the secure and sure side.

Though I just saw ...

Applications supported: Adobe InDesign

File types: INDD

Additions: Documentation included vector has levels

... so it looks to be in Adobe INDD file format, which you might have problems to convert then into a by Affinity readable format, if the template is not also offered as PDF format.
