RichardMH Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 I use FastRawViewer to screen and cull to some extent manage my images and as Affinity Photo doesn't have a DAM I'd like to expand this use (rather than incorporate yet another program into my workflow). I can currently send RAW images to Affinity Photo from FastRawViewer but it doesn't detect .afphoto files. I've been in contact with the FastRawViewer developer and he asks "Is there and public documents describing Affinity Photo own file formats? Or, even better, opensource SDK to read these files?" And I was hoping someone here could help. Quote
firstdefence Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 As far as I am aware there is no SDK open-source or otherwise nor any documents describing Affinity's proprietary file format. v_kyr Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 As @firstdefence already said, there aren't any official public documents or something like an SDK available for Affinity's proprietary file format! - However, there are some unofficial resources available, which (more or less) tried to reverse engineer the file format. - See ... Not sure what you mean concrete with "detect .afphoto files" here? Aka if just handling the file extension and passing that over to start the right APhoto app, or to show up the thumbnail contents of a file? I just want to be able to firstly see it and then be able to send it to Affinity Photo. At the moment FRV just shows RAW, Tiff and orphan jpegs. Not fussed about the thumbnail. I may communicate more with FastRawViewer. Quote

In order to show up a preview (a thumbnail) image, that FRV has to use on either OS (Mac/Win) the corresponding system service routines for this. Sending/opening a afphoto file due to it's extension with APhoto then too.
